Carol and Christine Sweeton
Opposite in every way but gender, this mother-daughter duo will review the five finalists for the 2012 Toronto Book Awards and provide insight from their unique and varied perspectives. A retired social worker, Carol Sweeton spends her time quietly reading, rug hooking, and gardening at her beach-front home in small-town Southern Ontario. While her busy and social daughter, Christine Sweeton, is a recent Literatures of Modernity Masters Graduate from Ryerson University who loves living and working in vibrant downtown Toronto; she is the sole author of the blog Always Standing. Joined by a love of The Word On The Street and reading in general, this pair will study year’s Toronto Book Awards finalists from differing angles of age, social interests, generation, lifestyle, geographic location, life experiences, and personality.
