Calling all Writers: The Word On The Street Toronto Announces the Scribendi.com Wordshop Marquee
The Word On The Street extends a warm welcome to Scribendi.com, one of the world’s leading online editing and proofreading company, as new sponsor of the Wordshop Marquee, one of the Festival’s most popular venues, year after year.
Coordinated by the esteemed faculty of the Humber School for Writers, this venue offers a full day of writing workshops covering craft and career strategy for aspiring writers, including the popular segments “How Not to Get Published” and “The Insider’s Guide: How to Get Published in Perilous Times” plus new entries “Straight to E-book” and “Bestseller!”.
Antanas Sileika, Director of the Humber School for Writers, who is also a freelance writer and novelist, explains why The Word On The Street festival is a natural destination for aspiring writers: “Aspiring writers should know that literature is not a monologue but a conversation of some of the best minds, often at a certain time and place, and that time and place this year is at The Word On The Street. Nobody publishes into a vacuum, and The Word On The Street helps give the context to today’s writing and publishing in Canada. The Humber School for Writers runs sample classes and brings in agents, writers and publishers who can also be found at other venues all over the street.”
The Scribendi.com Wordshop Marquee will be co-hosted this year by Antanas Sileika and Kim Moritsugu, who is the author of five novels. She also teaches creative writing at the Humber School for Writers and writes The Hungry Novelist food blog. Festival visitors will love the range and variety of dynamic programming at this popular stage – please turn to the second page of this release for the full details.
